A window, not a complete biography

The Line-ups view orders a selection of records by release year. Lines follow credited people from one record to the next, revealing a core, occasional appearances and returns.

The result depends on the records displayed. Changing the period or selection can change the visible core.

How to read the lines

A continuous line marks a presence on two successive objects in the view. A break followed by a return creates a new entry. This is a reading convention, not a claim that a musician officially left and rejoined a group.

The continuity percentage summarises the stability of the observed window. It becomes meaningful when several sequences are built with the same rules.

Return to the records

The chart helps select moments to investigate: first appearance, last shared record, break or return. Each moment must then be connected to the credits of the corresponding record.

Dating a session requires a source that explicitly documents the recording. JazzMesh primarily displays release years present in its corpus.
